Three Cheers for Chris!

On April 25th of 2009 my brother, Christopher Aaron York, passed away from his second battle with brain cancer. He was an AMAZING person to say the least. He delt with his trials with faith, optimism, and with an attitude or service toward others throughout his battle and throughout his whole life. Even though Chris is gone he still inspires me every day to be better.

If anyone reads this and could help I and my family are taking part in an organization called "Relay for Life" and are taking donations for the cause of helping find a cure for cancer. If you can help, your donations will go to the American Cancer Society. And anything helps...five or ten dollars...any amount helps make a difference.

I am sure I am not the only one with a personal experience about cancer. Help fight back. If you can make a donation contact me, Wendy York, personally or copy and paste the link below into your URL. Thank you!!!!

My first week in Jackson Hole....

1. I live in Jackson Hole...It's weirder to say I live in Wyoming though.

2. I can already cross something off my list off life goals (I learned how to fold T-shirts retail store style at work).

3. I went to church on Sunday and I have never seen so many Bolo ties in one room.

4. There are statue bears EVERYWHERE you turn around here (check out my picture...that is in the grocery store by the bread).

5. WY stands for Wendy York and Wyoming.

An ode to Margarine, Templeton and Lucifer

Six kittens were found on 800 north on the afternoon of Friday, April 18th. On the afternoon of Saturday, April 19th, only three were left and the stray cat mother was no where to be seen. These baby cats needed food, shelter, warmth and a mother (which came in the form of my friends Ali, Anne, Kristen and I). It's my shift to take the "children" tonight. I will experience what Ali, Anne and Kristen have been doing. They have proved to be wonderful parents. They have fed them every two hours since that fateful Saturday afternoon and tried to make these kitten's experience as close to a normal kitten's their age. Even having these guys sleep with a battery powered clock to resemble a mother cat's heartbeat. Tomorrow we take these little guys to the Humane Society. And to Margarine, Templeton and Lucifer we say farewell, goodluck and godspeed.

I eat ice cream for dessert.

Imagine you are at a sit-down restaurant and your friend comes to meet you there. Your friend sits, the waiter (or waitress) promptly comes to your table and asks you what you would like to drink. Your friend quickly replies that they would like a shake. The server looks puzzled. You then ask the server what the list of beverages are to choose from. The server runs through a list of coke or pepsi products and possibly some lemonades. Does the server mention shakes on the list of beverages? NO.

Why? BECAUSE SHAKES ARE NOT BEVERAGES. You would never go to a restaurant and order a shake as a drink.

"What about fast food?" you think.

I will admit, after doing research on the matter, I have found that shakes are listed under the beverage section at fast food restaurants such as Carl's Junior and Arby's. BUT, they also list them under desserts AND if you ordered a combo meal (which comes with a main dish like a hamburger and a side dish like fries and a beverage) they do not offer the choice of a shake as your beverage. You would have to order that separately (just like you would have to order a dessert item separately).
Conclusion: Eat ice cream for dessert.
